Computer hardware Engineer or System Analyst??? Help! want to submit application tomorrow

Hi,

Let me first introduce my background.
I graduated with Electrical Engineering degree, and I am currently working as IT Solution Specialist in HP. My main experience is on NT administration, Network, Web server hosting project management, IT security consulting. In work, most of my experience is on IT infrastructure, not IT application development. I only did some programming during high school and university, not since working.

In this case, what "intended job in Canada" I should put. I thought to use "Computer Analyst", but after reading all the postings, I think CA is more programming related. But I don't think I am a "Computer Hardware Engineer", as I don't design/repair hardware myself, I just manage server/network project and do administration work.

Must I use the job title in "General occupation list"? I mean, can I use " Computer System Engineer" for Part A 11-a, or just write "ANY related job" in Part A 11-b.

Thanks in advance,
Report

    • BTW, If I need to use "System Engineer" to apply, do I need to apply for CCPE ??
    • come in...
I think at least Computer Analyst is not the best choice. I applied through an immigration agency. I do programming and in some projects act as a project leader. I thought of applying as an analyst but they didn't agree, because it is more complicated to prove your ability as an analyst than as a programmer. It seems that your working experience is not that related with an analyst. I don't know if the downturn of IT would affect the process of my case, as there are too many programmers now in Canada. You are in such a hurry. It seems that you haven't prepared well. The reference letters and the intended job must be well related. It is not that simple that your reference letters just list all work you have done. Just my opinion.
