Okay, income tax deductions from your pay is a form of installment, per the pay-as-you-go doctrine, it's not required by the Income Tax Act, the law says that if your income hit 6 digits then you have to pay 4

installments during the year for taxes. In other words your employer is making you to pay 12 installments per year for your income taxes, it's voluntarily submitted with your consent, but it's not required by law.

Your employer is exploiting you for its own cash flow needs.

T1D is a the consent form you file to indicate that you prefer to have taxes deducted off your pay. Your employer does the T1D for you without you knowing because most people doesn't know much about taxes so it's common practice to submit taxes monthly and you are being exploited

          • Woooow,

          • i think what he said is right.. sometimes IT guys almost work all day and all night. that's true.

          • Let me make it simple: you file the form and fork over the tax only when you claim your income tax the coming year...
In this way, you won't have you hypothetical tax deducted and save the invested interest of that amount from the CCRA. Of course, some people have bad budget and usually find themselves difficult to collect the lump sum at the end of tax year. Am I right, Piggy?
            • Correct, Pay while you can they say, I always prefer dought in my pocket
      • thanks
