How about "The Anne of Green Gables"? I like this book very much. It's not too difficult to read. Its reading level is 6- for age 10 and up. You can go to Youtube to watch the film first. If you like it, you can search for the book on the internet. Somebody put the whole book on the web because there is no copyright of this book. You can also find "Little Women" on the internet. It doesn't have copyright problems either. "Cold Mountain" and " The Lovely Bones" are good novels as well.
