Guess I owe you some context information.

This excerpt is from the book “Help”, which is now highly popular and was adapted into a movie in 2011. The whole book was written in such Mississippi dialect, which must be an eyesore to Rolian grammar-conscious readers.

Since you are the first one responding to this post, it is my pleasure to share this piece of writing. To you, as well as to myself, always keep an open mind. My experience is: the more I read, the less certain I become, on lot of things about writing, grammar being one of them. Does this apply to French? I have a lot more to ask you about French. :)

Movie Help was rated 8 out of 10

Out of 5308 reviews on Amazon, 4108 give Help 5 stars

So I took that pink, screaming baby in my arms. Bounced her on my hip to get the gas moving and it didn't take two minutes fore Baby Girl stopped her crying, got to smiling up at me like she do. But Miss Leefolt, she don't pick up her own baby for the rest a the day. I seen plenty a womens get the baby blues after they done birthing. I reckon I thought that's what it was.
    • 1.Sounds like a nurse or nursing aide's memo 2. There're some obvious grammar errors that did not prevent readers from grasping the main idea
      3. The writer does seem to have some room for improvement in writting skills to meet basic workplace requirement

        • very interesting(genuinly:)) ! thanks a lot for sharing even if you already said"nothanks"~~
My understanding is that this remains non-standard English since the sheer fact that it's from a book doesn't justify it's correctness. But you are right that it is indeed one of those mind-openners.~
          • +1 to 1st sentence. +0 (or -1) to 2nd.
