Unless you go to very expensive French restaurants. Most Canadian restaurants are quite informal. So...Don't be share and relax. You try once and you will know, since they ask same questions. Here're some examples:

1, enter the door:
how are you guys doing?
how many are there in your party?
2, be seated
Do you like anything to drink?
Are you ready to order?
3, in the middle
How's everything going on? Is everything OK? how's food?
A: fine. OK. great. I'm impressed.
Do you need anything else?

You:
We are ready to order.
Do you have ...? Water will be fine.
I would like to try/have .... today.
what's special today?
What do you recommend?
We want to order the dessert. Can we see the menu please?
Can you bring me the bill/check?

      4. 餐后会被问是否来点什么甜点, 咖啡或茶, 或直接摆个甜点单在台上, 看自己的情形, 可以来其中一两项或直接表示"NO THANKS".
      5. 买单只要向侍应说"BILL, PLEAE", 或佐以签单手势, 注意: 1) 服务你的是固定的一个人, 要加什么或要帐单都是向此人提出. 2) 别忘小费.
