Tips for better writting!

But/And/So......

These are words we use a lot every day. They are easy useful and powerful. However, there're something you need to pay attention. See the following example:

"I have tried my best to contact him. I called his home, his cellular. And I sent an email to ask him call me. But I can't reach him. So I think he must leave the country."

See something wrong?

It's OK when you talk to others. However, it's not proper in written or formal talking.
Use However instead of But, Additionally/in addition to instead of And, Therefore instead of So. Sometimes, it's not even necessary to use these words.

There're couple of other words which are similar to these. I can't remember them now.
I only remember if you link the first letter of these words together, it's another English word.

If you know them, please post them out. Tks.

    • It all depends
Usually, people use "little" words in oral English. But those who have been well educated do not follow the rule. They may be very selective in using words so as to remind others of their identities. They may talk like a book. For instance, my boss prefer to use the word "hurdle" instead of "difficulty". To reach some conclusions, he may begin his words by saying "Having that said, blah blah...".
