Jabber's English Note---field office

本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛Recently, I am taking Unemployment Insurance money. I claimed it on the internet by filling in a form. Unfortunately, I made a mistake so that my claim could not be processed because of an "outstanding issue". I knew this by calling the service line of the State Employment Commission. Then, I had to visit one of its field offices in my area. I waited in line for about 1 hour. Then, I was helped by a gentleman. After he corrected all the problems around my claim, he said: "You are all set. In a few days, you are gonna get your first check."

I remember I have ever talked about the say "You are set". Now it came to me again. But what I really want to talk about is "field office". Take Immigration and Naturalization Service(INS) as an example, it has field offices in Baltimore, Alexadra, Washington D.C. If you wish to get a US green card, you may have to visist one of the INS field offices sooner or later.

Similarly, Canadian government have some field offices to accept people's application for SIN cards. Department of Transporation has some field offices to adminiter the registry of vehicles and issuance of driver's licenses.更多精彩文章及讨论，请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
