Trust me"Start to do sth." means do something just once at a specific time, and "to do" indicates something is not done yet, e.g. I started to cook dinner at 5pm. "start doing sth." means do something not just for one time, could be a couple of times or many times regularly, and "doing" indicates something is already done. e.g. I started palying golf last year.
