2 cents means of little value. People just use this idioms to show their modesty about the value of his or her opinions.

please pay attention: since this "2 cents" refers to US $ 2 cents, canadian usually says " my 3 cents" which make the option has same value and same modesty as well. :-)

AFAIK, this idiom came from some kind of poker game.The original phrase was "my two bits". The player had to put in 2 bits to start the game.
