工作学习 / English / I was wondering how to pronounce ROUTE by most north Americans (/ru:t/ or /rout/, I prefer the 2nd), and I found this...a good one to test your accent and learn how people from other parts of this continent speak.

工作时好像都是/raut/, 我就听Mississauga Tranist是发/ru:t/音。

I have heard both in different occasions by different people. It must be some sort of accent, just like caramel /karamel/ or /ka:rml/, both are correct.

It's not accent, it's just two pronunciations. There are many words you can pronunce in one of the two ways, even in the same accent, words such as either, detail, route, and so on. No surprise required.
