对。有道理。那些号称填补空白的，请证明一下那个确实是一个空白。。。--估计要满足这个要求，你得花上一辈子的时间，天天google....拿出点丹布朗的精神吧，郇山修隐会的材料1950年代出现，2003年成书，50年。
大家记住，下次填补空白需要50年，不然。。。

Do some research (using the research databases), if no body has done what you have accomplished, then you can say "填补了一项空白" - of course, it is should be verifiable and accepted by experts in that field...

If you have the time to read those researh/study reports, you will find the word "gap" is very commonly used.... Yes, I agree with that it can be used in other situations....
