The worst thing for me is can't write the correct name for person. It is so stupid to ask person " can you spell your last name and first name?" . How can I improve this? It drive me crazy.

Don't be silly. it's completely normal to ask people how to spell their names. Of course you should know how to spell some common first names. Suggest you to borrow a name book from library.There are some baby names books to help new parents giving names to their new borns.
