Your joke is funny or your joke was funny?
分别的时候你说 "it is nice to meet you"? or "it was nice to meet you?"

Your joke Is funny. It Was nice to meet / talk to you. It Is nice to meet you.

in real time, u just say "nice to meet you" or "it's nice to meet you", so that works both way.

my understanding is when you first meet with each other, you should say "it is nice to meet you."
When you conclude a conversation, it should be " it was nice to meet you". Is it right?

而不说 were you kidding?

No.1 "That's funny."; "You're funny.";"That's hilarious."; "You are hilarious." People don't say "your joke is funny." Instead, we comment on the person who tells the joke.No.2 Before you meet someone, you say “Nice to meet you.”; after meeting with someone, you should say “ It was nice meeting you.”

But Should I say " that was funny?" since the joke WAS told by you?

No. When you comment on something (the joke), no need to use past tense. If you are to comment on a past action (someone told a joke or showed a naughty face), you could say "that was funny". So, to a joke, keep it simple.

The joke WAS told already...that happened a moment ago. I would consider it a past action, so " that was funny" is right. What would you say? Just want to figure it out, no offence.

no worries. Ask yourself this, what "that" refers to in the sentence "that was funny."? Remeber: A nun does not have tense, but an action does.

not really. if someone told you their name, but you did not get it, you would want to ask, "what was that again? "

Your joke is good (still in conversation, even though the joke was told a while ago) ; The joke you told yesterday was good ?

yeah, no big difference, just go with the flow. everybody understands what you try to say, that is it.

I would say: 1) "It's nice meeting you" when you say goodbye. However, when you write a thankyou letter or email, I would say "It was nice meeting you" 2)That's so funny (because your emotion/reaction to the joke is still present).
