"other than" also means "besides", so I think your version is right also. But seems to me, "other than" is more often used with a negative tone, e.g. Other than making money, work is nothing.

'other than' has the meaning of 'different from' or 'except' . I dont' think it should be used here.

other than=In another and different manner;otherwise;differently."working is rewarding other than earning money." can be rephrased as Working is rewarding in different manner from by earning money.比如说，那种从工作中或获得的满足感，自信心的提高，不是用金钱可以衡量的。

I think it can be translated as: Except for making money, working itself is meaningful. Here, except for means besides or other than, but it doesn't have any negativity to it.
