I only meant to tell you I got your email, but I wasn't sure if I should use "got" or "received". I asked for help on a Chinese forum and someone told me to just say "Roger". Later I learned that "Roger" is his boss.
I really didn't mean to offend you. I promise next time when I get help from the internet, I'll ask the helper his boss's name.

I only meant to tell you I am really sorry about my previous emia, but I copied and pasted a letter from a girl with a nickname Toad on a Chinese forum. Later I learned that "Jane" is her real name.

Seriously, I've never seen "roger". The popular ones are: ok, thanks, got it. "Received" is too formal, like calling your boss "Mr. Richards" instead of "Dan". My first boss laughed at my co-worker who kept calling him "Mr. Richards".

np. I think "thanks" is the best, neutral and pleasant, often written as "tks" or "ty" for "thank you"; "ok" sounds like agreement, although it shouldn't be taken that way; "got it" feels like 多此一举.
