请问这里的“or so say villiagers...“，我理解 so say villagers 是倒装句，应该是villagers so say？但如何了解这个"or"呢？

Or是表示如果你不信，至少villagers是这么说的。or常常有if not, then...的意思，从两者择一演绎来的。

ah-ah, I am not too sure but I don't feel it is that complicated. It is just an inverted sentence structure, equivalent of "or the villagers say so". It means " as the the villages of ... also say so..."

Dusk is correct :) "Or so they say" means at least that is what other people think, but I don't know if that is true. It's a way to show that you are quoting someone, and you are not agreeing or disagreeing with the statement
