Or so say villagers in the tiny western Serbian hamlet, nestled between lush green mountain slopes and spooky thick forests.
请问这里的“or so say villiagers...“,我理解 so say villagers 是倒装句,应该是villagers so say?但如何了解这个"or"呢?

Or是表示如果你不信,至少villagers是这么说的。or常常有if not, then...的意思,从两者择一演绎来的。

ah-ah, I am not too sure but I don't feel it is that complicated. It is just an inverted sentence structure, equivalent of "or the villagers say so". It means " as the the villages of ... also say so..."

Dusk is correct :) "Or so they say" means at least that is what other people think, but I don't know if that is true. It's a way to show that you are quoting someone, and you are not agreeing or disagreeing with the statement
