工作学习 / 外语学习 / 追求口语地道化，千万不能简单化俺有个老港同事，说话每句都带＂ｌｉｋｅ ＂，有时一句中间都带几个＂ｌｉｋｅ＂， 甚至说“kind of like", 听得难过死了。
类似的口头语有：
en-hum, okay?, right?, you see what I mean?, you know,
还有不断耸肩摊手等动作，对话中用得太多，很恼人。
也许就是当初学英文简单化模仿老外落下的病。毛病一成，终身难改啊。

说得很好！人家的末流习惯当地道宝典模仿，学了一腔垃圾，完全被误导，跟所处环境，教育背景多少有点关系。加拿大语言不是最好的，陋习很多，语言清晰准确度欠佳，全名谦卑容易让流俗匠技成一股风，＂dot your i's and cross your t's " 这种民间俗语并不入流，我们大家要对＂质量＂＂style" 有待再加深认识，不可盲目跟风啊！

口语的好坏在于清晰准确生动流畅和达意；雅俗取决于场景。同意你说的，有些cliches老外都在力图避免,不过初学者学了也就学了，但如果奉为经典，就搞笑了。

Those are called "filler" words. A good communicator should avoid filler word. An effective way to improve is to join a Toastmasters club.

Using fillers is better than stuttering; silence sometimes indicates contemplation. 当然最好都不要，实在不行就岔开话题；顾左右而言他；操控局面，who怕who啊？

From what I learnt, some short silent moments are better than filler words. If you listen to radio, you will find broadcasters never use filler words.
