since we can not say " a pollutant" , it is not countable. Pollutants ,i think , means a whole of pollutant

我记得关于这道题中的pollutants新东方的老师有一个解释，pollutants在这里虽然是可数名词，但是在这道题里是指车辆散发的各种气体的污染物，而减少以后的也是各种污染物，所以用pollutants，但使用less. 不知道我记得是不是准确。
但是我觉得这道题those是关键。

我刚才说得不够明白，在解释一下我的理解pollutant 在几种污染物混合在一起时是可数名词用，加s, 汽车释放的是几种的混合体。但是...比...少的时候，是几种一起少的，而且分不清是那种少了多少，而不是几种里面少了一种两种污染物，所以不能用fewer, 只能用less.

其实这里的关键就是考比较对象, 这种平衡是GMAT里至高无上的, 所以你根本不比考虑别的可能, 多从结构入手, 而不是象托福从语法入手

同意同意。GMAT，只要一看到than的题，就去找对比的东西，其他都不用看。新东方总结的规律对于语法题还是很有效的。

因为其它4个都有burning 先排除c, 又因为vehicles 复数，排除d (does), 又因为pollutants 不可能用 fewer 排除b,d, 又因为主谓鱼同进退，排除A, 所以得到---E, 但偶心理上觉得C也有可能
